As GPs we realise that very few of us manage to get through life without some sort of difficulties, despite seeming fine on the surface. Many of us have problems, whether they be depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anhedonia (loss of the capacity to experience pleasure), relationship difficulties or bereavement. Other common problems include Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, sleep problems or alcohol difficulties.
We treat a large amount of depression and anxiety in the practice, and have close, consultant psychiatry links and have teamed in over many years, making a real difference to some many patients. It is a very important part of our work.
