FOCUS ON VACCINATIONS

Vaccines: let’s get them right!

Vaccine boosters in the adult population have tended to happen in a somewhat haphazard fashion.  The best way to improve is for both patients and doctors to have the relevant knowledge.

Essentially your car performs much better when clear service guidance is given as to when the filters or belts should be changed.

This bulletin gives you the information on when you should have your vaccines.

The UK guidelines mainly come from the joint committee on vaccination and immunisation -JCVI.  It has a strong weather eye on the financial aspects and making cost-based decisions.

In the private sector you have the freedom to choose what you wish. With the guidance that is available to us, there are gains to having vaccines that are not necessarily part of the UK guidelines.  Indeed, sometimes with certain vaccines, as with dengue, there is a definite issue as to whether it may be worth giving a vaccine off-licence, as long as the patient is clearly informed.
